Health Department is One of Only 13 Selected Nationwide
“We are thankful to NACCHO and the CDC for awarding us with this funding that will primarily be used to expand the mobile street engagement project recently piloted in Oneida Square,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. “That project provided boots on the ground, on-demand access to substance use treatment medication and exceeded our expectations, with nearly 100 people started on buprenorphine treatment in just a few weeks. On March 30, 2022, Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr., Sheriff Robert Maciol and District Attorney Scott McNamara announced the integration of a new and innovative drug detection device at the county’s correctional facility, the first in the state to do so.
County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that the Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps (COCVAC) has joined with the Oneida County Overdose Response Team and Midstate EMS to participate in the county’s “Leave Behind” naloxone program.
The Oneida County Overdose Response Team has issued a spike alert message for an increase in heroin and opioid overdoses and a public health alert regarding minors overdosing on marijuana and pills.

The Oneida County Opioid Task Force today announced the creation of a Peer Alliance Program that will provide training and support to individuals in recovery so that they can help others with Substance Use Disorder find their own pathway to recovery.
